Causewayside offers 44 spacious apartments of primarily 2 and 3 bedrooms. Separated into three blocks, it is the most central of the University accommodation sites with easy access to a park and children’s play areas, and views of the Fen and river.
Built in 1929, Causewayside is situated on Fen Causeway, constructed originally on the line of Coe Fen Lane to connect the villages of Newnham and Trumpington.
The accommodation comprises both furnished and unfurnished flats. Furnished flats come with blinds or curtains to the windows, carpet on the floors, beds and mattresses, wardrobes, dining table and chairs, sofa and armchair, vacuum cleaner, oven, hob and a fridge. Tenants are expected to provide their own bedding, towels, cutlery, crockery, kitchen equipment, electrical items (kettle, television), etc. The flats do not have microwaves. Unfurnished flats come with an oven and hob, fridge, curtain rails and carpets.
The flats have independent gas central heating and hot water systems, and electricity for cooking. There are no fittings to install washing machines so a communal laundry is on site for all tenants. Parking is limited and at extra cost, but there are three bicycle lock-up facilities.
Suitable for postgraduate students, visiting academics and staff, priority is given to those who are new to Cambridge.
